Quote: Crisis?

"In every crisis there is a message. Crises are nature's way of forcing change - breaking down old structures, shaking loose negative habits so that something new and better can take their place."

Scripture Sunday: Never Leave Love

Proverbs 3: 3-4
3 Let love and faithfulness never leave you;
bind them around your neck,
write them on the tablet of your heart.
4 Then you will win favor and a good name
in the sight of God and man.

If you waited to feel better about yourself through someone else’s approval or appreciation, then you could be waiting a long time. Why? Because you cannot make everyone you meet happy. People can be encouraging and fun, but they can also be fickle and moody; don’t place your worth or sense of value on how people treat you. For example, have you ever met up with someone who was just plain awful to deal with, but then later realized that they were going through something deeply personal? We can take on so much pain, when in reality, it has nothing to do with us.

Our world has such a lack of self worth, self respect, and self love. Even the flashiest of egos who claim to love themselves really don’t love themselves…why else would they try so hard.

We place too much control in other people’s hands when it comes to our worth, our respect, and our value; It’s time to take back the control we place in other people.

Start respecting yourself. Don’t let things or people define you. Don’t wait to start feeling better about yourself. Keep reminding yourself that you are here with a purpose.

A long time ago, I found a contract on self care. I do not know where I found this, and I do not know who it was written by…but it is too good not to share.

Print this contract out and sign it. Sign this contract with the intent to follow it’s instructions to the letter. If you’ve been waiting for appreciation, approval, or respect…wait no longer…

"I, (insert your name),
Do solemnly swear
To love, honor and obey my Soul.
To love and accept myself completely
To live in peace and calmness
To take care of myself and to always know I’m made worthy
To always have a strong relationship with God and myself
for better or worse,
for richer or poorer,
in sickness and in health,
from now and forever more."

Mother Says

Mother Teresa: Final Analysis
People are often unreasonable, illogical, and self-centered; Forgive them anyway.

If you are kind, people may accuse you of selfish, ulterior motives; Be kind anyway.

If you are successful, you will win some false friends and some true enemies; Succeed anyway.

If you are honest and frank, people may cheat you; Be honest and frank anyway.

What you spend years building, someone could destroy overnight; Build anyway.

If you find serenity and happiness, they may be jealous; Be happy anyway.

The good you do today, people will often forget tomorrow; Do good anyway.

Give the world the best you have and it may just never be enough;
Give the world the best you have anyway.

You see, in the final analysis, it's all between you and God; It was never between you and them anyway.

Scripture Sunday: Coming Together

Romans 8:28
28  And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.

We all have a divine purpose, but sometimes we can experience situations that don’t feel so divine. Be assured that all is well and that God is always in control.
Today’s scripture is a promise that all things, which includes delight and drama will be worked out for good. God never misses an opportunity to turn things around for good. The pain, the drama, the delay can be worked out for good if you trust in the Lord.
You never know how God is going to work; that drama maybe the very thing that HE uses and lets you walk through, in order for your promotion and growth. You will walk through and you will see everything coming together.

Scripture Sunday: Knowing All of You

Psalm 139: 13-18

13 “For You formed my inward parts; You wove me in my mother’s womb.

14I will give thanks to You, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made; Wonderful are Your works, and my soul knows it very well.

15My frame was not hidden from You, when I was made in secret, and skillfully wrought in the depths of the earth;

16Your eyes have seen my unformed substance; and in Your book were all written the days that were ordained for me, when as yet there was not one of them.

17How precious also are Your thoughts to me, O God! How vast is the sum of them!

18If I should count them, they would outnumber the sand.”

Today’s scripture should give you great hope. We are reminded in psalm 139 just how much God knows us, chose us, is not surprised by us, and how precious we are to HIM. HE talks about how HE has been there with us, ever since we were formed in our mother’s womb and how wonderful HIS work is in that form; you arewonderfully made!

You are never a surprise to God. Sometimes we surprise ourselves with the things we do or the things we say, but find comfort that God is not surprised and that HE chose to always be with you.

God thinks you’re precious, and HE says that HIS precious thoughts of you can outnumber sand! Have you seen sand? That’s beyond amazing…but that’s what you are to HIMamazing.

Come In

Come in from the rain; a popular phrase that reminds us to seek shelter from the weather. The weather is unpredictable and we get advised to go somewhere safe for when the forecast is unfavorable. Come in where it is safe. Come in where it is dry. Come in where it is warm. It makes sense to come in, because when we do, we are protecting ourselves.

It’s easy to know that we need to come in from the rain, but why do we have a hard time coming in from other unpredictable elements of our lives.

We tend to rely so much on outside vices to keep us happy, fulfilled, motivated, satisfied, valued and appreciated. We tend to look and seek others who will compliment us, promote us, invite us, or give us whatever we seek in the moment…and for what? To feel loved? You are already loved, so why are we demanding others or things to feel us up? Why do we place the responsibility outside ourselves for happiness? I know I don’t want the personal responsibility of trying to keep someone happy or motivated…I imagine how taxing that responsibility could be.

Instead, we need to come in from the rain. When life is giving you a storm, come in. When I say come in, I mean to come into yourself, to look within for your answer. If I truly believe that the Lord is always with me, then it’s easy to look within and see a smiling face.

We should be encouraging to one another. A genuine compliment is always appreciated, and we should have a gentle tongue with one another; the bible even tells us how a gentle tongue brings healing (proverbs 15:4). And as encouraging we should be to one another, don’t use it as a crutch to find any form of validation.

When you face a storm, when the clouds look dark and gray, and when you start to wonder when you will feel the warm sun hit your cheek again, remember to always come in!

Fall into Scripture

The bible provides great insight on how we should approach life. The bible gives us many teachable lessons. No matter what generation you fall into, the bible directs you with solutions that help your life fall into place.
Do not be conformed to this world (this age) [fashioned after and adapted to its external, superficial customs], but be transformed (changed) by the [entire] renewal of your mind [by its new ideals and its new attitude], so that you may prove [for yourselves] what is the good and acceptable and perfect will of God, even the thing which is good and acceptable and perfect [in His sight for you].
~Romans 12:2

Scripture Sunday: Anxieties

Psalm 56:3
When I am afraid, I will put my trust in You. In God, whose word I praise, In God I have put my trust; I shall not be afraid.

Daily worries or anxieties, fears or concerns can rob us of our joy. When you face emotions that resemble being afraid, as it says in the first part of the scripture, run to God and put your trust in Him. Run to God because HE is bigger than any anxiety. Tell God what you are feeling and allow HIM to give you rest; put your trust in HIM and let HIM handle your dilemma.

Classic Writing

A new boob-tube is in my house. Do people still reference a television as a boob-tube anymore or is that old school? I’ll tell you what is old school…the classic high-rated sitcoms (in their time) that still dominate many stations in the form of re-runs.

I love watching old re-runs of the shows I grew up watching. With the fun of having a new picture box in the house, I’ve been strolling through sitcom memory lane and loving every minute of it. Watching these old shows was great the first time around and even sweeter the second time. These shows have managed to withstand the test of time, and it’s thanks to the writing.

Current shows today seem to lack class and creativity; What happened to good writing?

Calling a television a boob-tube maybe old school, but it seems fitting due to all the current characters you see on TV acting like boobs.

Influence yourself with programs that are classic, not classless…even if that means you have to hold the channel button down until you find something worthy of your attention.

Why is this important? Because where you place your focus and what you allow to influence you, has great impact on how you perceive yourself.

I applaud all my favorite old shows that not only kept me laughing through the years, but also allowed me to learn a couple of great life lessons.

To Rose Nylund, from The Golden Girls:

“Never ever give up your dreams, even when they're doused in sorrow, because even though they seem far away, they could come true tomorrow.”

Familiar Faces

As once said to Eliza Doolittle, will also be said to you,
I’ve grown accustomed to her face.

I’ve grown accustom to my blog, my readers, and my experience as a writer. I’ve grown accustom to the connection of reaching you in a way that hopefully helps your journey. I’ve grown accustom to the inspirational thoughts that will be shared, and hoping for the comment box to be filled with viewer love.

I’ve grown accustom to your presence,
even though I’ve never seen you.

It is my hope that you have grown accustom to me as well.

To all my familiar faces, I want to thank you for the patience you endured while I was temporarily removed from Renewed Corner;
it feels wonderful to be back.

Professor Higgins would be pleased that we are back in session!
